The Magic Touch
Marais, Forqueray, Couperin, the golden age of the viol
4 musicians : viol, theorbo, recorder and harpsichord
At the sunset of the Baroque era, Hubert le Blanc lamented the loss of a generation of musicians blessed with magic touch " the caress of Marais’s bow, the transparent arpeggios of Michel de la Barre, Couperin’s celebrated touch on the harpsichord.
“A melody played by Marais was like to the finest Burgundy - a taste never recaptured - the same melody played by others turned immediately sour”.
An exploration of a special sonic universe of poetry, rhetoric and “ je ne sais quoi”.
